About Us

ISS GROUP SERVICES

ISS Group Services was formed in 1977 by David Cunningham. Many people in the close-knit electron optics community know the company and its reputation for always putting the customers’ needs first.

With many years of experience as a microscopist and engineer, David was aware of a gap in the market for an independent service organisation which could offer cost effective engineering capabilities for electron optics and associated analytical instrumentation.

ISS not only installs and services the latest instrumentation and accessories, but also supply and support pre-owned equipment and older models. We offer our engineering service both on-demand or as an annual service contract; always tailor made to meet customers’ individual needs.

Despite worldwide economic challenges, ISS have been providing excellent sales and service for over 40 years. Our customers know they can always pick up the phone and call us for advice and immediate help – and speak to a real person.

The human touch

We pride ourselves on providing an efficient and friendly service. We endeavour to build long lasting relationships with our customers by supporting them with an extra level of care both from our staff in the Middleton office and our Field Service Engineers when they are onsite.

Daniel Barry

Service Engineer - SEM

Hi, I'm Dan and I've been with ISS since the start of 2021. As well as being pretty handy with a screwdriver, I also look after this website. When I'm not cleaning apertures, replacing filaments or writing news posts, I like playing video games, board games, and spending time with my family. I also run a local Explorer Scout group, and am a qualified air rifle instructor, so I've got plenty going on to keep me out of trouble!
